I read the entire series and loved it - not so much post-L, but enough to give it one hell of a tribute. I wanted to show opposition and similarity so to speak.
Done over the course of five days, pencil on 12"x18" watercolor paper, my largest, traditional-media, personal piece done.
L(l) and Light (r), Death Note (c) Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata
Five-hour shifts. I just sit in front of the TV and draw. Did two on each Saturday and Sunday and then one each of Mon, Tues, Wed. So the picture ended up taking... 35 hours? Lol. The time flies, though.
Thank you. I"m honored... I was going for something less "This is fanart I've seen before."

Not really. I had to use the levels in Photoshop to get rid of the paper texture because I had to piece the piece together (It's relatively large, so I scanned it in three parts). The watercolor paper background is the pattern created from one of those scans, then turned into a Photoshop pattern fill.
It looks so much better IRL. LOL.

Haha, jeez, I have been favoriting a lot of your work lately. XD; It's not just because they are fanart pieces, though, it is because they are kickarse in general. =X I looove the veins in the demon wings here.
Ohman I just noticed the lilies all over too. XD Wow~
D: And I thank you very much for it. I've really been using fanart to expan my skillset. Trying at least.
Lol. Yes... lilies and veins and little things. The actual pice is pretty large when you think about is, so I needed to put detail in, or else it wouldn't look so good. I'm going ot try blowing it up to 16x24 and seeing if it still maintains decent quality.

Anyways, this looks amazing. Definitely one of the best Death Note fanarts I've seen.
