“Yo.  So what’d you think?”

“Think of wha – Greg, you’re not supposed to be backstage.”

“It’s all right.  Mrs. Jenkins likes me.  Remember, four years ago in freshman drama, she gave me an A, even though I couldn’t – and still can’t – act for shit?”

“That’s so true.”

“Well, I got you these.”

“Flowers? You’re kidding me.  It’s not like I’m your girlfriend or anything.”

“Well, you’re the lead this year, and someone always gives the lead flowers.  I mean, what else was I going to do for you last performance in ‘Jerry F. Lindbergh High, Cottonswood, Montana’s premiere secondary school?’  Oh, yeah.  I found these also.”

“My bracelets!  Thank you so much!  Where’d you find them?”

“By the door.  You probably left them there during dress rehearsal.”

“You know, now that I think about it, you’re probably right.  Man, in college, I’m going to waste all my money trying to replace things that I’ve lost.”

“Yeah, what’re you gonna do without me, right?  I heard you were accepted to Yale.”

“Where’d you hear that?”

“You told me last week.”

“Oh… right!  So where are you going?”

“I said – where are you going?”

“I don’t know yet.”

“Too many to pick from, huh?”

“Uhm, not really.”

“Stuck between two?”

“You could say that.”

“So, which two?”

“Trinity and Washington and Lee.”

“Not Kenyon and Haverford?”

“Uhm, Carrie, I was rejected from both.”

“You’re joking.”

“You can’t be serious. You’re a straight A student.”

“Carr, I’m in your physics class. I’m getting a C.”

“But Mr. Dreyfus is an idiot. Everyone’s getting Cs!”

“Haverford doesn’t know that.”

“Want me to drive you home, Carr?”

“There’s a cast party at Britt’s house tonight.”

“Oh.”

“I got a new car, though.  Don’t you want to try it out?”

“Sure, but I promised Britt we’d all be there by eleven.”

“Why don’t I just take you there?”

“Could you? That’d be beyond awesome.”

“This is a pretty sweet car.  The ride’s really smooth.  How’d you convince your parents to get it for you?”

“Car…  Remember how I had that job last summer and the summer before that and the summer before that?”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“I’m hungry.”

“We can stop by Wendy’s.”

“It’s alright if I eat in your car?”

“Sure.  Just be careful.”

“These burgers taste like cardboard.”

“It’s late. What do you expect?”

“I don’t know. Something edible, maybe?”

“We could drop by my house.  My mom should still be up.  Or I could fix you something.”

“I promised Britt, remember?”

“Right. Sorry, I forgot.”

“The lights are on.  You sure you want to go?  You know the kinds of parties Britt likes.”

“Come on.  It’s just a cast party.”

“I don’t want my best friend getting into trouble right after she gets accepted to Yale.”

“Greg, you worry too much.”

“Alright, have fun.”

“Bye.”

hey - great work. I found it very difficult to understand hemingway's beauty. But he's quite genius, and you pulled it off very well. Must have eben difficult. I love the relationship here. I really like Greg.

(This is Rakka from Zenkaikon again, if you wondered why my name sounded maybe slightly familiar? haha. you're so good, I'm sure you'd lose me in the crowd of commenters etc. I'm jsut going through your gallery to get to know the characters. I love Rivek so far. Oh, and the themed piece on "rock and roll." fantastic.)
