 I just got a new tablet device, and I need practice with it.  Please post your character requests!
I'll pick a few to draw, and if you like it, you can Paypal me as much or as little as you wish (just not nothing, please, lol). I expect a lot of replies so I can't promise I'll get to everyone, and it may be very experimental because I'm just trying things out.  I don't know how long I'll be doing this.  Probably until I'm comfortable with the new equipment (or I hit $451.34, the cost of the 3-year warranty - whichever comes first, hahaha).
I'll send you a note with the art and my PayPal if you are chosen. So please, request away! Happy holidays!

Alternatively, you can ask for one of my characters, and I'll do it for free. Haha...

 It's been just over thirty days from my last journal entry, so to finish off my posting marathon, here is a giveaway on my tumblr!  You can get an 18"x24" canvas print of the following:

MOVED - 100 in Color by fongmingyun MOVED - 100 in Gray by fongmingyun

EDIT, 11.23.11: I've also made a video tutorial of the process - and how I go truly between both traditional and digital media.

As of last month, I am 23.  I am really, truly, grateful for the support you guys have given me on this now-fifteen-year-old project, especially for the past month.  I never thought I would get this far on a fad, but I am very glad I did - and I finally am beginning to have a cohesive story to show for it.  I think I've made some of my best work in these little sketches.  And it's knowing that you guys actually might be reading it - that's what keeps me going and keeps me posting.  I am always tempted to take the easy way: draw fan art, get famous, get rich - but I'd be empty inside.  Knowing you all are reading tempers my avarice and keeps me working on this.  So thank you, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart and my twisted, little, guro-loving, stomach.

 Also! Don't forget to check out PUSS IN BOOTS on Thanksgiving weekend!  Great family movie, especially for cat lovers.  Support me, and don't let the Twilight franchise bite into my salary!  Q.Q

 As customary with this time of year, I will be taking the next two months to solely do original artwork. Your commissions, of course, are queued up to be posted.  But here is a sign of what's to come:

:bulletblue: There will be nice, full, illustrations posted on October 20 (Little Red Riding Hood) and November 21 (something Mondigan-related).  That's me and Rivek's birthday respectively. Man, I'm getting old.

:bulletblue: I know you guys have been waiting patiently for The Undine Prince.  I am happy to say the writing will be done at the end of this week, but I still need some beta-readers.  I will be shipping it to the printer no later than October 20th (because I like accomplishing stuff as my birthday gift to me).  I hope to have it for sale at Comickaze on November 5th!

:bulletblue: Some of you may remember I was doing a 100 Themes series for my characters.  Well, I have about thirty of those pictures done but not posted. So I will be uploading one every day between October 20th and November 21st.

 Also - we've got a new movie coming out on OCTOBER 28th! (A week early!)  Please go check it out. :) Click below to see the most awesome trailer ever, "The Cat Your Cat Could Act Like".

 Heads up! I will be at Otakon 2011 Artist Alley tomorrow (around 5 PM EST).  I will have mostly original and fanart prints, and I'll also be taking commissions!  Also, I will have some poster-size prints in the Art Show! (also, after 5 PM EST).

I'd really, really, really, love if you helped me out by buying something because - thanks to an airline mishap - I have sank $1124 into this convention... and will be arriving late.  I'm really not sure if I can make that much money back. :(
(Hell, or cheer me up by mentioning Prince or Mondigan... or even better, commission me to draw something from it...)

Here's where I'm sitting! As usual, I will be sharing with my lovely brother-from-another-mother, :iconprodigybombay:

July 2011 - Last Day to Pre-Order Undine Prince!

Journal Entry: Tue Jul 12, 2011, 1:27 PM

NEW CAR QUEST: $350.21/$15,000 (0%)
COMMISSIONS: CLOSED | ART TRADES & REQUESTS: CLOSED

:heart:EDIT: It's the LAST DAY to pre-order The Undine Prince.  There's just 12 hours left! Wonder if we can reach $1,000!

 I am still very, very busy (especially with work + class), so I just have a quick check-in with some good news.

We're fully funded!

Thank you for your support!  We reached our goal, and this project is gonna happen! Thank you so, so, so much.  I seriously can't thank you enough. Thank you!  If you haven't ordered a copy yet but still want to, there are still 5 more days until the campaign ends.

All the illustrations are done, and I'm halfway done writing the story.  You can expect the books in September.

"The Undine Prince" will be a short story with seven, highly detailed, grayscale illustrations printed as a 8.25"x10.75" comic.  I am limiting the run to 70 regular issues, and 7 special issues.  Special issues have "sketch covers" made of bristol board, and each will be totally unique - hand-drawn by me, with marker coloring.  There will be no re-prints after this run!

Your support helps cover the printing and shipping costs for this issue.  Also, if you order a printed issue, you will get two free 8"x10" prints!  You may pick from this gallery: fongmingyun.deviantart.com/gal…

I'd throughly appreciate if you tweeted, made a DA journal, Tumblr blog, anything!  Each time you re-blog (and Note me about it), you will receive a raffle ticket for one of three free sketch commissions from me (you can request anything!).

 I should have Internet at the new apartment tomorrow, but as usual, check Tumblr and Twitter for short-form updates and commission progress.

 For the record, I will be very sparse in responding to notes and e-mail for the next two months.  I am:

:bulletblue: Moving to a new apartment.
:bulletblue: Releasing a new software package at work.
:bulletblue: Taking a MSE course in game design - where I have to make a game.
:bulletblue: Taking a MSE course in systems engineering or e-commerce website creation.
:bulletblue: Helping out with friends' plans for three conventions.
:bulletblue: Flying back east for my Mother's birthday.
  :bulletblue: Drawing commissions from Feburary/March/April.

I know I am already bad with answering messages, but please forgive me.  I should be back on my feet August 26th.
I will be more active on Tumblr and Twitter which encourage short-form posts.  If you would like to track commission progress, please follow those.

But on a positive note, if just 984 3 people pre-order The Undine Prince, it will be fully funded!  We only have 21 days left!

 Thanks for the support at the KFP2 Premiere and Fanime!  I've been working pretty diligently on The Undine Prince - there's quite a bit of writing left, but only one drawing.  As for funding, thanks to my wonderful Boiled Fish buddies, we're 94% of the way there with 21 days left to go!

“The Undine Prince” will be a short story with seven, highly detailed, grayscale illustrations printed as a 8.25”x10.75” comic.  I am limiting the run to 70 regular issues, and 7 special issues.  Special issues have “sketch covers” made of bristol board, and each will be totally unique - hand-drawn by me, with marker coloring.  There will be no re-prints after this run!

Note, due to aforementioned duties, I'm afraid this means The Undine Prince will not be released on time for Otakon.  Expect your copy to arrive end of September/beginning of October.

April 2011 - Roommate + Beta-Reader + Commission

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 31, 2011, 1:56 PM

EPIC CINTIQ QUEST: $1578/$1999 (78.9%)
COMMISSIONS: OPEN | ART TRADES & REQUESTS: CLOSED
Website | Twitter | MondiganWiki
Blogger | Tumblr | LiveJournal

  EDIT, 4.6.2010: I've posted this a lot of places, but I'm looking for a roommate.  I don’t know if anyone here lives in SoCal, but I’m my current lease ends in June/July.  I’d really like to find someone to live with.

I am looking for 1-2 other people to share a 2-3 BR place in the Glendale/Burbank/Los Feliz/etc area. The goal is to find somewhere $600-800/month per person, but I want to find a person before I find the apartment. Girls, guys, gay, straight, etc doesn’t matter.

I guess the main perk of living with me would be:

:bulletblue: I have a steady job on a two-year contract, so I’ll always make rent.
:bulletblue: I am pretty clean and quiet and keep to my computer.  I draw a lot.
:bulletblue: I love cooking, and if you chip in for groceries, I’ll be happy to make dinner.
:bulletblue: I own a car and an elliptical, both of which you may use if you ask.
:bulletblue: I don’t have much furniture right now, but I’ll buy the pieces for the public areas (ie - sofa, dining table).
:bulletblue: I can go with you to artsy events, salsaa dancing, or out partying… anything, really.  I love life variety.  Unless it’s watching sports.
:bulletblue: I am very open to having guests (or either sex) over, but if it’s over a month, then they chip in for rent.
:bulletblue: Free DreamWorks shit and studio visits!

Reblog if you can. <3

  EDIT, 4.4.2010: Did someone send me a note recently? Like, on 3/29? My inbox says I have a note, but when I go to read it, it shows everything has been read.

  EDIT, 4.4.2010: Hey, just a heads up, I need a few beta-readers for Prince.  I am writing the short stories right now, and I want them looked at for language, themes, consistency, and well, likeability.  I never went to school to be a writer, so I really don't know how well my stories idea go over with the general public.  Since I intend to make a book out of these, I won't be posting these free, online, any time soon.  So really, being a beta-reader is the only way to see them.  Unless you want to wait a year.

I am also looking for a person or two who would be willing to help me flesh out Mondigan.  I am currently trying to spec out what happens in each chapter, so I can begin writing.  Unfortunately, I am so haphazard and everywhere at once with this material because I see it from so many angles.  I need someone to keep me on task in such a way that I can make a linear, comprehensible story.  I intend to finally start writing a chapter a month in January 2013.  This may or may not be posted free online (most likely free, with cheap downloads for Kindle and Nook).

I'll only take a handful for both projects, and I will likely favor people who have shown interest before.  So please, comment here or shoot me a note.  Please also have AIM, MSN, or GTalk.  I do most of my work on a Wiki and on Google Docs.

 In addition, I am having a COMMISSION SALE to raise funds for theBoston Brain Tumor Ride.

I have a friend who I love tons because he saved my life from a deep, emotional bind.  He flew me to his place, and I had the best Thanksgiving vacation ever in my life.  Two years ago, his father developed a brain tumor, and a hospital saved his.  My friend, as well as his family, and especially his father, are absolutely wonderful people. I want to do what  I can to give back, since I certainly wouldn't be where or who I am without what they did for me.

Therefore, 50% of every commission will be going to "Bike for Mike." .

$15 for base commission - a 6"x9", lineart, fullbody, pencil drawing.
PE - Gift for Dumpysaurus by fongmingyun
This would be $15.

Add $10 for an extra character (up to two more per piece).
Add $5 for a minimal background.
Commission - Hang 'Em High by fongmingyun
This would be $30.

Multiply by 3X for colors.
MOVED - Gore for Dwenda by fongmingyun
This would be $45.

BONUS: Free shipping!
SUPERBONUS: Buy two, get one free! (Of equal or lesser value.)

Limit 17.
1-9. Nadda
10-12. M-V-D
13-17. (none)

If you aren't interested in a commission, but you would like to donate, please go HERE: secure2.convio.net/bts/site/Do…

  Yesterday, I signed my name for my first movie credit! ( Kung Fu Panda 2, to be released May 26.)  And right after that, I signed a check for $2,700 and gave it to the DreamWorks HR Department.  Yes, that's right.  After the matching program -

We have raised $5,400 for Save the Children for Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief.

Go thank and congratulate these awesome folk who helped me out:

Over the course of the past two days, that has meant 6,500 deviation views, 800 main page views, 600 favorites, and 40 new watchers. Thank you all, very, very much. I am supremely honored.  The community has floored me once again.

 I dropped the price since I didn't get any bites last time.  Please tell your friends!
I'm saving for a Cintiq 21UX ($1296/1999!).  For that, I'm opening up a HUGE, SPECIAL, ATC COMMISSION SALE.  ATCs are 2.5"x3.5" cards, done in traditional media.

I'm overworked (as usual) - they put me on 50-hour weeks again - so no commissions for the time being.  Please do not expect your cards for 1-2 months. (February commissions are not necessarily done in February. Sorry if that wasn't clear.)

 EDIT: Merry Christmas. :D

 First and foremost, I really want to thank all the new watchers and favorites I've been getting in the past year. I'm very grateful for the support.  I apologize for not being around much, but I do very much appreciate it.  Especially those of you who read my original work. I was completely shocked and floored by the results of these polls ( fongmingyun.deviantart.com/jou… , fongmingyun.deviantart.com/jou… ).  Honestly, I was just trying to figure out which of two projects to work on next!  My stupid stories mean a lot to me, and the fact that so many of you have such interest... I'm just blown away.  Thank you.

 Second, I've jerry-rigged my blog to cross-post to LiveJournal, Tumblr, and Blogspot.  Please feel free to add me on those venues now.  I am also on Twitter.

 And most importantly, thank you *SO MUCH* for your help with our artbook.  There are only 30 days left to our fundraiser, and we are almost halfway to our financial goal.  All the artists have submitted some pieces, and I'm in the middle of talking with some printers now.  This is going to be great!  Please, please, please donate - or advertise! - and really help us get there!

We at BOILED FISH STUDIOS are putting together an artbook - and it won't be possible without your help! We are taking donations and pre-orders through our Kickstarter website, HERE: kck.st/c8Afi8

The book is going to be between forty and sixty pages in full color with soft cover - including illustrations, sketches, and process walkthroughs.  You can reserve your copies at $30 per book right now, and bonus! - if you pre-order, you will get an exclusive button set and the chance to win a sketch from one of the artists.  Books will be mailed out Spring 2011.

Broke?  Don't worry!  You can still win exclusive prizes (including that original sketch!) by linking our project in your deviantART journal, forum signature, or blog.  Just send me a link to where you've posted it.  Check out our banner repository, HERE: www.gaiaonline.com/forum/test-…

Also, got Twitter?  You get an entry into our price raffle for every tweet linking to our Kickstarter page.  Just use the #BFSAB (short for "Boiled Fish Studios Art Book") hashtag!

So reserve your copy today!

This book features:

 I'm also saving up for a Cintiq 21UX (my dream come true!), so I'm taking commissions. Currently at $446/$1999.  I'll start majorly advertising after I see BFSAB fully funded, but you're welcome to get me early while I'm not busy yet!  Prices HERE: fongmingyun.deviantart.com/art…

November 2010 - ARTBOOK! + SELLING TABLET $80, OBO

Journal Entry: Tue Nov 9, 2010, 5:36 PM

 Castor has served me faithfully for three years now, but I just bought a new tablet.  I'm going to let go of my old one - an Intuous3 6"x8" for $80 or best offer - with free shipping.  On eBay, this tablet usually sells used for $150.  I'm letting it go for half the price since the wire the corner is fraying slightly.  I will bandage it up before shipping, but sometimes its drivers need to be rebooted or it needs to be plugged in/out.  Stylus, stylus holder, included.  Potentially drive CD, mouse, and original packaging as well. Will check when I get home.  Drop me a note if you are interested.

 Megamind came out this weekend! We did a pretty good job in the box office.  Don't let the commercials fool you, it's a really good, comedic time and absolutely gorgeous.  And to be honest, if you love destruction and explosions (or Will Ferrell), this movie tops the charts.  It's got a villain you'll love to hate, and by the end, you'll really like the characters.

 Rivek's birthday is this month, so expect a lot of Mondigan-themed artwork and stories.  I don't think I'll be able to put any type of book together until early 2012, but we'll see!

 My birthday is coming up on Wednesday, so give me them llama badges!  Thus, I'm going to be doing and posting original work all month. :) Yay!  Not much to report, but I will be opening commissions in early 2011 to help fund my lifelong Cintiq quest.  Life is good.

September 2010 - PIMPIN' + Inception Gaia Auction!

Journal Entry: Thu Sep 30, 2010, 11:40 PM

 Hey, y'all do me a favor and add these wonderful bros and hos to your deviantWatch. I went to college with all of them, and they are all totally baller people - who draw better than I do.  So yeah, really, check 'em out. I MISS YOU, PENN.

:iconmichelle-chen: - My roommate from college and total best buddy.  She's got a great, goofy, Pixar-like style and draws the cutest girls and has a ridiculous fashion sense. You may recognize her from a feature on FML - fav.me/d2whmb8!

:iconsamantha-raja: - A genius who doesn't admit it at all, who just poops out amazing artwork when she's not gold-level ballroom dancing.  If you think I'm good with pencil, check her out. PS, she drew me this hottie - fav.me/d2zukj4.

:iconkrupen: - Now, this chica is hot.  When I first met her, she was just getting into concept work.  She's been drawing every day, and is making these absolutely fantastic landscape paintings. Every time I check her out, she's got something amazing.

:iconsasush33: - My other roommate, whom I've know since I was twelve, and who was in sixth grade at that time and enjoyed being an annoying, little, S.O.B.  Somehow, between me graduating and her grauating, she started doing these ridiculously accurate portraits of awesome celebrities.

:iconaliceyang: - She came to college already knowing about my convention friends (specifically :devprodigy-bombay: ) and me, which was kind of creepy, but she's still really sweet.  She's got a great, colorful, shojo vibe and makes amazing hats.  Leave her some love. Or cats.

:iconsearedice: - John is the only dude on this list, but he only started doing art halfway through college. It was so cool seeing a total tech geek get into the creative process.  It was so easy for him since he could abstract form so easily. Definitely worth a look.

:iconteiza: - For one, she has already got a hell of a web presence, but I can't blame her.  Her create work is so cool.  I wish my designs were half as clever as hers.

:iconempresshelenia: - Well, she's no longer in my program, but her art is seriously amazing, and she's come a long way.  I love her colors and her take on fandoms you wouldn't find otherwise.

:iconetuncurat: - This chick is at Pixar now, and she did some crazy hair simulation work for her final project. Dude, amazing.

Other Penn peeps (except you, Tycho7 because your account is inactive despite you you know, being my best friend ever), I can add you. Just tell me.  I forgot everyone's screennames.

 In the last few seconds of September, I just want to plug the auction I'm having on Gaia. It is Inception-themed. :) We have a bunch of fantastic artists!  Click the banner to go there.

August 2010 - DeviantART Birthday Bash!

Journal Entry: Sat Aug 7, 2010, 1:39 AM

 I'm going to the deviantART birthday bash!  Because I give into whims and love meeting new people.  If you want to meet up, shoot me a note.  I have no distinguishing features, but I will probably be hanging around with tobiee, zemotion, and Bilious given that they're the only people I know.  I'll bring a sketchbook and some paper for sketch trades.

 Things have been busy, and incredibly fun.  I've have plans every weekend since I got here, and I still basically have plans until September.  Luckily, I can squeeze in a drawing or two.  I've met a lot of great people here at work, and I'm really enjoying what I'm doing - that it's so hard to leave some afternoons!  This place is full of amazing artists, the problems are fun to solve, and I'm actually helping to make a movie that millions are going to see.  It's a bit mind-boggling.  I watched the latest screening for my movie yesterday, and it's coming along.  (I can't say too much, but I have high hopes.)  It's so hard to not do fanart for these fantastic visual designs which are all under NDA, haha!

I've been working towards this for the past six years, and I fit right in (despite being a total baby age-wise compared to the rest of the company).  Maybe I'm growing soft with this weather out here, but I've sworn to take every opportunity I can to meet new people and try new activities.  Like clothes shopping, making dinner, art walks, mash-up clubbing, shooting ranges, self-defense classes, movie viewings, going to the beach, horse-betting, walking downtown, and all those other fun, social things which involve movement.  I missed Bollywood dancing yesterday by accident. D'oh.

After all, life's just a string of experiences.  Better not waste them at my computer.

The only thing I hate here is driving.  Jesus Christ, I hate traffic.

 As I've said, I'm not nearly as attached to my computer anymore, but I'm halfway done what I need for the Inception fan sketchbook, so it really is a possibility.  If it happens, I will try to keep it pretty affordable.  Keep on a lookout.

Oddly enough, coding for pay makes me more willing to draw for free.  Thus, I am doing an Inception auction recruit on Gaia Online: www.gaiaonline.com/forum/art-s…

 And, completely contradictory to the previous point, I might open commissions.  But before that, I will need a new set of markers. :/

July 2010 - BRB. Moving.

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 29, 2010, 6:30 PM

 Hey, so I fly out tomorrow for AX (Table D22!).  Since this is also my final move to Cali, I might not have proper internet for awhile.  I'll still have my phone, so you can e-mail or talk to me on GTalk (AIM/MSN sometimes, but I prefer GTalk).  So, yes, just saying I'll be gone indefinitely.

June 2010 - Fashion Help? (trade art for clothes!)

Journal Entry: Tue Jun 22, 2010, 5:40 PM

  While packing, I pretty much realized that my wardrobe is largely very "college," so I'm looking for fashion advice. Link me to cute clothes I could wear while working at an animation studio in the miserable California heat.  If I can buy them online, all the better.

Feminine looks are good (I have enough jeans and free tees to cover the "tomboy" look twice over), but I don't like really bold patterns.  Vintage patterns and solids are best.  I mostly wear skirts, jeans, and leggings for bottoms, but my tops vary.  I also like that Asian style with the long, casual, top which is almost a dress.  I am attracted to things which are punk- and gothic-inspired (but still OK for work), have crests or medieval imagery, or have bird and feather motifs.  I super need help accessorizing and finding shoes.  That's my main weakness.  I mostly wear bracelets and necklaces since I don't have pierced ears (but I'll definitely love clip-ons if they work).

I'm 5'2", a size 7-9 (depending on the brand), and not particularly curvy.  More notably, I have wide shoulders, athletic legs, but pudge in my tummy, so I like outfits that flatter the face.

If you have old clothes/jewelry and want to trade them for sketches, that's cool, too!  Snap a photo of the item and note me with its measurements.

If you're a boy, tell me what clothes you like girls to wear. *COUGH*

 One more convention left - Anime Expo!.  I'll be at table D22
